KATE WINSLET - WON OSCAR FOR THE MOVIE "THE READER""



Kate Winslet has won her first Oscar for the movie “The Reader” for the best performance of an Actress in a leading role. She was earlier nominated for 5 Oscars Awards. She has also won 36 awards and nominated for 58 awards. She was born on 5th October 1975 in Berkshire, London. She became world famous by her movie Titanic, in which casted the character of Rose.

The Reader – Kate’s Oscar winning movie was directed by Stephen Daldry and the story was written by David Hare and Bernhard Schlink. The important casting were done by Ralph Fiennes(Michael Berg), Jeanette Hain(Brigitte), David Kross(Young Michael Berg), and Kate Winslet(Hanna Schmitz). The movie depicts the time of Second World War(WWII), where a teenager unfortunately has a secret affair with an elder lady Hanna. But Hanna is twice the age of Michael and they meet each other after many years under different circumstances which moves the story to a dramatic end.
